SRS-ASSIST Mk 2 has the same proven quality resistance circuitry as in our previous model.
NEW Mk 2 with Built in Self Test and Light Source functions, that are operated by two switches, this means the power supply is totally isolated from the main resistance circuit, making this unit impossible to cause damage to the vehicle ECU.
Resistance emulator can be used even when batteries are flat.
We incorporated the self test function so you can check the continuity of the emulator circuit before use, as there is nothing worse than not knowing if your equipment is working or not.
We have also incorporated very bright LED light source for those dark and difficult to see places.

SUGGESTIONS FOR USE
ASSIST: SRS ASSIST will help you with diagnostics on airbag systems, if you don't know the resistance you need to bypass a part, helps to test the airbag system is working before purchasing & replacing the faulty or missing part/s.
Also with fault finding on SRS / Airbag systems. SRS ASSIST, when used correctly, you will be able to simulate resistances of the faulty SRS / Airbag devices as listed below.
Note some Vehicle makes, when accessing SRS / AIRBAG live data on a diagnostic scanner, may not display the resistances of the SRS devices.
NOTE: if you have more than one srs / airbag device that is faulty or missing, in conjunction with a diagnostic scanner you will have to work through them one at a time, for example you have read the fault codes, you have 3 faults, work on them one at a time, use the resistance emulator on the first fault code, CLEAR the srs / airbag ECU fault codes then read the codes every time you try a difference resistance until the fault code you are working on has cleared, now fit a fused resistor of the same ohms, then move on to the next fault code and do the same, once all fault codes have been cleared you know the wiring and srs/airbag ECU are working correctly also the srs/airbag light will go out, now you know what parts you need to replace/bypass, this saves you time and time is money.

We designed the srs-assist emulator specifically for use as an srs /airbag diagnostic aid only, but it has proven very helpful in other motor vehicle diagnostic procedures.
Example: when reading live ohms data in conjunction with compatible diagnostic equipment, you can simulate a resistance of the device that you suspect is faulty, for example, you suspect the crankshaft sensor is faulty, just disconnect it from the wiring loom and plug in the srs-assist emulator, in conjunction with a compatible diagnostic scanner that reads live data you will be able to see the live data change when you choose a different resistance on the emulator, this will tell you that the wiring is OK and the engine ECU is reading live data.
You can also simulate an open circuit, no need to disconnect srs assist, just turn the knob to “0” ohms
We have designed srs assist ohms selector knob to rotate the complete 360 degrees, this way you can select any resistance by Turning the knob clockwise or anticlockwise.
The SRS ASSIST was designed originally for srs / airbag diagnostics but has also proven very useful in other fault finding Procedures.
SRS ASSIST has 11 different resistances plus " ohms that can be chosen, by turning the selector knob.
= 11 different resistances plus "0" ohms that can be chosen, by turning the knob.
The self test function can be accessed by pressing and holding down the self test button (on the top left hand side of the unit) then turning the knob through all the resistance values the led will illuminate every time you select a different resistance (approx 7 Lumen 1/2 power for longer battery life), this will test resistance circuits between 1.0 to 6.8 Ohms including the switch & fuse, to check the yellow leads are not damaged in anyway, just turn the knob to 0 Ohms touch the 2 pins together and press and hold the self test button, if the Led light illuminates, this means that the yellow leads are OK, still holding the self test button down, release the 2 pins, if the light does not illuminate this means the open circuit test on "0" is OK .
The LED light source (approx 14 lumen bright light) function can be accessed by pressing and holding down the light source button on the right hand side of the unit.
All resistances are .25 watt ¼ watt + / - 3% tolerance & 2 amps fused

This unit has a built in self test function to test the continuity of each resistance circuit, this way you can test the unit resistors/switch and fuse to make sure all is OK before you use it.
Note; If you decide to check the unit calibration, please remember "this is NOT a precision made tool that cost fortunes", remember to test the srs assist unit with an accurate ohms meter such as a Fluke multimeter, please make sure your meter has ZEROED, the true reading of the unit will be affected by ambient temperature & contact resistance, the dial indicator is only a representation of the resistance values inside the unit; tolerance of the resistors may change slightly depending on ambient temperature & contact resistance.
The power supplied for the light source and self test functions are totally isolated from the resistance circuit via push button switches. This means it's impossible for this unit to cause any damage by sending power to an ecu during diagnosis also you will always be able to use the resistance emulator function, even when the batteries are low or flat.
Never make any measurement directly on air bag module(s) or seat belt tensioners. A fault in these components is determined by a process of elimination using Resistance Emulator.
To avoid accidental air bag deployment when trouble shooting SRS, DO NOT use self-powered electrical test equipment, such as battery-powered or AC-powered voltmeter, ohmmeter, etc. when air bag module(s) or seat belt tensioners are connected to SRS.

SRS ASSIST will help you choose the correct resistance ONLY. We do not guarantee your Airbag light will go out. (due to other factors i.e. a system that has activated and logged crash damage data in the ECU).
SRS ASSIST is NOT a replacement for any SRS / Airbag part & is NOT a reset tool, it has been designed specifically as a diagnostic aid
